From our President

Dear Friends of Bow Lake,
Swimming, boating, fishing, pristine water, loons, bald eagles, ducks in all the natural beauty Bow Lake offers. We at the Bow Lake Camp Owners Association would like to extend an invitation to all of you to join our organization and help us continue to keep Bow Lake as one of the cleanest and most enjoyable lakes in the state of New Hampshire.
The Bow Lake Camp Owners Association has been active for almost 60 years in preserving this wonderful natural resource. This association began with a small group who wanted to bring people together for social events and maintain the environment of Bow Lake. The membership today has grown from a few to all who value the gift that Bow Lake offers. In order to maintain our quality of life at the lake, there is much that occurs behind the scenes. For instance, the association supports water testing. This is done every year with the help of volunteers and in conjunction with the University of New Hampshire. This constant monitoring of our water helps us to identify early on any potential problems that may occur in the future. This effort helps us keep Bow Lake as one of the cleanest lakes in the state. A second way of monitoring our waters is the Lake Host Program at the town ramp. Here, incoming boats and trailers are checked for invasive plants helping to ensure invasive plants are not being brought into the lake. This program has been in place for many years and is a great success.
July Fourth is an all-day event. It starts with Day at the Dam. Perhaps you have had your children participate in our July 4th Day at the Dam swimming races and other contests. There is always a wonderful turnout for this popular event. Or maybe you joined the fun yourself and participated in events. The last event of the day is the Parents Tug-of War contest. Both parents and children love it. In the evening, there is our spectacular fireworks display. Many of you have enjoyed them from the shore or in boats. A great way to celebrate America’s holiday!!! What is more beautiful than to see a flotilla of sailboats on the lake and each manned by enthusiastic young sailors ages 8 to 14? This is the Bill Latham Youth Sailing Program. The success of this program is evident in the number of returning sailors. Not only are they proficient but eager to continue this experience and grow in skills.
How many have attended our Chicken B-B-Q??? There is plenty to eat and it is always the best to be had. Hundreds enjoy this community event and leave happy and satisfied. For those of you who love lobster, there is our Annual Lobster Cookout. As with the Chicken B-B-Q, many hundreds enjoy this traditional New England experience.
Aren’t we fortunate to have the beauty of Bow Lake and the many activities it offers!!!!!
Please consider joining The Bow Lake Camp Owners Association.
Thank you,
Frank R. Mayo
